Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.

These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.

SHC of Buckhead triples Compassion Fund participation

Compassion Fund

Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead’s CEO, Director of Nursing, Human Resources Director and a few recent recipients of the Compassion Fund recently set out a mission to garner additional participation in the Compassion Fund in our center.

Over a period of three days, the Buckhead Compassion Fund Champions were able to educate stakeholders on the background of the Compassion Fund, eligibility requirements and how to donate, as well as how to apply for assistance if needed. The end result was incredible with participation rates tripling!

Fall Festival 2014 at SHC of Buckhead

Fall Festival 2014 at SHC of Buckhead

Our Fall Festival was full of laughter, love, and light-heartedness. We gathered in the 3rd Floor Dining Area after dinner for costumes, candy, and desserts.

One of our family members dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and themed her beautifully decorated cake and coordinated family costumes around the famous Dr. Seuss book.

Our Quality of Life Director, Assistant QOL Director, and Concierge dressed up in polka dots and tutus. Family members and patients joined us for the festivities. We have fun in Buckhead! Come visit and see for yourself!

SHC of Buckhead Celebrates 2014 Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame is an innovative Signature HealthCARE Quality of Life program designed to honor our “hometown heroes,” by recognizing their lives, accomplishments, and contributions to our community.

Our Quality of Life Department, led by Alissa Ellison, planned and executed this year’s Hall of Fame celebration with the assistance of our Customer Experience Director, Jackie Clements, Dietary Manager, Dominic Boyd, and Chaplain Nancy Penton. January Nixon, Assistant Director of Nursing, served as our Emcee for the evening.

Annually, Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead honors patients, stakeholders, and community volunteers in a Hall of Fame Celebration. This year’s inductees are patients: Mrs. Willie Capps (posthumously), Mrs. Joan C. Motes, Mr. Gerald Ross, stakeholder: Ms. Teresa Sims, and community volunteer: Mr. Melvin Battle. Their biographical stories were read by family members and friends at the Hall of Fame celebration and are now displayed in our Hall of Fame Café on the first floor of our facility.

Signature HealthCARE Hall of Fame Inducts 350+ Individuals

The Hall Of Fame is an innovative Quality of Life Program developed by Signature HealthCARE designed to honor the lives and accomplishments of our patients, stakeholders, volunteers, and others who have had such an impact on our centers, communities, and nation.

On October 9, 2014, 87 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 350 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.

This event, which we believe is the largest and only of its kind, is an opportunity for us to extend gratitude to those who have given so much to our centers, communities and country. They come from all walks of life – war veterans and feminist icons to inventors, professional athletes, philanthropists and much more. We are proud to count them among those we serve and can only continue to benefit from their presence. The Hall of Fame ceremonies are a special day to hold them up as shining examples of human potential.

SHC of Buckhead Holds Senior Olympics

From Alissa Ellison, Quality of Life Director:

We had a great Signature Senior Olympics on Tuesday, September 16, 2014! Both long-term and short-term rehabilitation patients participated. Our event was a company-wide event headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky and spanning several states with events held simultaneously in Signature facilities.

At SHC of Buckhead, we had two main events, chair volleyball during the morning and wheelchair races in the afternoon. A host of spectators, including stakeholders and family members, were in attendance to cheer our athletes to victory. A special thanks goes to Chaplain Nancy for being our emcee and conducting the opening and closing ceremonies.

Family FUN Day

Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead hosted its first ever Family FUN Day on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Stakeholders, patients and their families were treated to a day of fun, food and games. New backpacks and school supplies were also given away to 50 children and free haircuts to 20 boys.

July 4th Peachtree Road Race 2014

The Peachtree Road Race is an iconic Atlanta institution. The event, which attracts 60,000 runners and walkers from all over the US, is a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July. Spectators and volunteers line the six-mile route with American flags, cups of water, and cheers for the wheelchair racers, the runners, and the walkers.

Last year we loaded up the van and drove to the parking lot on the corner of Peachtree Road and Peachtree Park Drive and we had a lovely time cheering on the racers. It went so well last year that it is becoming a tradition for us.

This year, we loaded up the van around 10am. We sat on the sidewalk in the shade and watched the race as we waved our American flags! The runners were very happy to see our patients supporting the race.
