So be strong and courageous, for you will lead this people as they acquire and then divide the land I promised to their ancestors. Always be strong and courageous, and always live by all of the law I gave to my servant Moses, never turning from it—even ever so slightly—so that you may succeed wherever you go. Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them day and night so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success. Joshua 1:6-8 The Voice
Joshua is about to lead God’s people into the Promised Land. Moses has died. The Lord instructs Joshua to meditate on the words from the book of the law, to be careful to live by its writings, not deviating to the right or the left, and to go forward with strength and courage.
Some days it would seem so easy for me …and maybe some others of us…to read the first phrase, “be strong and courageous,” and then the last phrase, “you will prosper and always find success,” and totally skip the middle section. It would be easier but it would lack the full integrity and intention of the entire section of Scripture. The middle section about living by the laws, principles, and foundations of God’s instructions, and meditating on them, is a pivotal section for our success.
Integrity is one of the Sacred Six values contributing to our success as a healthcare company. We are successful through many contributing factors, including our Pillar of Spirituality. As spirituality is a foundational corporate pillar, we hold high the values of our Sacred Six: Integrity, Compassion, Positivity, Respect, Teamwork, and Patience.
The keys for success in our above Scripture passage are:
- Living by God’s moral principles
- Not deviating to the right or the left
- Remembering the words of the book of the law
- Meditating on the words of instruction day and night
Then, as we go forward we will prosper and find success.
Prayer: Thank You, God, for offering us blueprints for success in Your Scriptures. Thank You for encouraging us to be courageous, to be strong, to remember You and Your words to us. Help us this day to be full of integrity and find success as we seek You and keep Your words in our hearts. Amen.
