Purposeful Intentions

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, “My purpose shall stand, and I will fulfill my intention,” calling a bird of prey from the east, the man for my purpose from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have planned, and I will do it. Isaiah 46:9-11 NRSV

Intentions reflect both what we hope will happen and what we are planning to do. When we intend for something to happen, as much as it depends on us, we intend to do our part to arrange circumstances and situations to see our intentions come to fruition.

Goals are purposeful intentions. We set goals in our workplaces to be specific and measurable. We set goals to be achievable and realistic. We purposefully live to see the realization of these goals with great intentionality. The outcomes of our goals are not always controllable from our perspective. Yet, the scriptures assure us that God’s purposes and intentions will be fulfilled.

God has purposes and plans for us. God purposed for us to live lives of intentionality. If we commit our ways to God, we will see God’s purposes, intentions, provisions come to pass in our lives. In the above scripture from Isaiah the prophet, God says, “My purpose shall stand and I will fulfill my intention.”

Prayer: Thank You, God, that You know the plans You have for us. You have purposes we might not see. Your intentions for us are good. You want us to know how much You love us. You are working things together for our good. Thank You that You have promised to fulfill Your intentions. Establish Your purposes and plans for us today. Allow us to catch a glimpse of the weavings of Your ways in our lives. Amen.
