On Friday, May 15th, we hosted the Signature HealthCARE Global Day of Prayer. The Global Day of Prayer was celebrated this year at the end of National Nursing Home Week. At Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead we offered a Livestream broadcast from our Signature HealthCARE Home Office in Louisville, KY. Our President and CEO, Joe Steier, welcomed us. Our Vice President of Spirituality and Legislative Affairs, Dianne Timmering, challenged us to prayers and petitions with the “Power of the Ask.” We listened while the Mayor of Louisville spoke to us about the value of days of prayer. We joined in as representatives of various faith groups offered prayers and petitions. We dismissed with a blessing for all in attendance.
The scriptures teach us to ask God in accordance with God’s will:
Psalm 2:8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
Luke 10:2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Luke 11:9-10 So I say to you: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
James 1:5-6 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
James 4:2 You do not have because you do not ask God.
